About

Heather Schwartz LMFT

Founder & licensed Psychotherapist

Heather Schwartz is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Plot Twist Behavioral Health, a boutique practice based in Orange County, California. Her work reflects a synthesis of clinical expertise, academic engagement, and experience within healthcare settings, offering a highly attuned and multidimensional approach to psychotherapy.

Her orientation is integrative and experiential, incorporating EMDR, Brainspotting, somatic interventions, and parts-based work to facilitate deeper processing and sustainable change. She utilizes targeted, evidence-informed intervention tools to support clients in moving beyond insight alone, helping translate awareness into meaningful behavioral and emotional shifts.

In addition to trauma-informed modalities, Heather emphasizes the clinical efficacy of positive psychological interventions, integrating strengths-based practices that enhance resilience, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

She is deeply passionate about her work and holds the enduring belief that it is never too late to be who you might have been. Therapy, in her view, is not about returning to a previous version of oneself, but about integrating past experiences, deepening self-understanding, and consciously shaping what comes next.

Heather continues to advance her clinical work through ongoing training and a commitment to approaches that honor both empirical research and the complexity of the human experience.

Every story has unexpected chapters

Sometimes life doesn’t follow the script we expected.

Unexpected changes, difficult transitions, and emotional challenges can leave us feeling uncertain about what comes next. At Plot Twist Behavioral Health, we believe these moments — the plot twists in our lives — can also become opportunities for reflection, healing, and growth.

Therapy offers a supportive space to pause, understand your experiences more clearly, and begin shaping the next chapter with intention and confidence.

Our goal is to provide a calm and welcoming environment where your story is heard, respected, and explored at your own pace.

Our approach to therapy

We believe therapy should feel welcoming, respectful, and supportive from the very beginning. Creating a space where clients feel comfortable sharing openly is one of the most important parts of meaningful progress.

Every experience you bring into the room is treated with care, curiosity, and understanding. Rather than a one-size-fits-all method, sessions are shaped around your goals, your pace, and what feels most helpful for you. Together, we explore patterns, challenges, and possibilities in a way that supports lasting insight and change.
